Gives Me Hope

Hey everyone, I just got back from a week long vacation day before yesterday. I'm still a little jet lagged, but I wanted to do an entry. I've been super happy since my vacation and couldn't think of ANYTHING to write about, but like I said before, this is NOT a depressing site. This site is supposed to make you want to LIVEEEE.

So, I have this amazing website I want you all to check out. It's called "Gives Me Hope". You know what it reminds me of? This other site called FMyLife except it's better. It's inspirational and some of it has brought me to tears... in a good way. People share their stories of, well, what gives them hope. Some of it can be extreme and some of them are the little things. Here, I'll share a few:

"My dad finally noticed how little I've been eating lately and forced me to eat more.

In retaliation, I told him that he can't force me until he stops smoking and drinking. Next week, we both start our recovery.

His determination GMH."

"I went through a really hard patch in my life that lasted about 5 years.

I became a drug addict. I attempted suicide 6 times, was an extreme self-harmer. Sexually abused. I am now struggling with an eating disorder, Anorexia, with bulimic tendecies. If I can get through these things, you can, too.

9 weeks clean, baby. My strength GMH."

"I was in the terminal illness ward in the hospital I get treated at.

A boy at maybe the age of 3 comes up to me and tells me 'You're going to make a beautiful angel one day.' and gave me a Spiderman bandaid for the 'needle prickies'.

Moments like this GMH."

Whenever I am feeling down, I go to this site and read a few of these. They aren't all about serious matters... and that last one, I know it isn't about suicide, but it's more about me. :) I'm no stranger to the hospital.

Anyways, Question of the Post is: What gives you hope?

To me, it would be the friends I've made because of my disease. Everyone is just so happy and it doesn't bring them down. If they aren't upset, why should I be? Their happiness GMH.

"It's Fake"

I had someone email me and tell me that none of her friend's believed that she was depressed. That she felt the feelings she did. My boyfriend went through the same feelings and couldn't relate to anybody. This one girl I knew who had anxiety was always made fun of because everyone thought she was faking it. You know what? Screw those "other people". They can't tell you what you're feeling. They can't get inside your head and point out everything that is true and false. So when someone ever tells you, "You're faking it." Just ignore them. I know it's hard, but don't let it get to you.

It can be hard when there is no one to relate to, but just so you know, you are not alone. There have been times when I have felt so depressed and it felt like there was absolutely NO reason behind it. "You're just a girl," was one of the reasons I was given. It didn't feel right. I don't think that was it. "You're faking it," and I knew THAT was incorrect. Because there was no way I could be faking my own feelings. And if your "friends" think that you're faking something so serious... I'll tell you this, they aren't your real friends. You need someone supportive. Who doesn't accuse you of something so horrible. When you're going through something like depression, you need support, not friends who say you're faking it. That will only make it worse, unless you have the great mind to ignore them.

So please, just know that you need to surround yourself with positive things. Know that what you're going through, whether it's anxiety, depression, panic attacks, or a combination of the three, that it isn't fake and that I believe in you. You can get through this.

Question of the post is: Are your friends supportive?

A lot of mine didn't know I was upset when I was going through my rough times. But the ones who did know... I had a few great ones. And two of them just talked about themselves. Their problems were more important. Or "the children in Africa are starving and you're complaining about this?" I hate it when people say that. Just because someone else has a bigger problem doesn't make mine less important. I still have a problem, and you do, too. Always remember that no matter who has a problem in the world, yours still matters. Treat your problem, don't let it suffer in still frame of time. You deserve to get better.

Thank you for reading.

Time To Smile: Story #1

When you have a bad day, you need to laugh, or at least to smile. So, I'm going to tell you a story. Some of my friends have heard this one, but I'm sure it wouldn't kill you to hear it again and again. It's quite funny.

My boyfriend Cordell was playing video games. I walked into the kitchen to throw something away and it hardly fit. This piece of trash was very, very small. The fact that it wasn't fitting was not a good sign. I walked into the living room and looked at him.

"Honey? Can you take out the trash?" I asked.

"Uh..." he grunted.

"Now?"

He looked at me hopelessly and paused his game. He was only wearing boxers and went to get the trash.

"Haha, no, you are not going out like that," I put a hand on my hip. "Get dressed."

He grabbed around for the first pair of pants and shirt he could find. He pulled them on and then went to get the trash. He grabbed it and headed for the door. I had been doing something else, but then when I looked over, I saw he was wearing MY pants and MY shirt. The pants were really tight and flared out at the bottom and the shirt said, "Seattle: the wetter the better". I covered my mouth and laughed.

"You can't go out like that. Those are my clothes," I giggled.

"It's dark. No one will see me," Cordell grunted and left with the trash.

He came back and sat down to play video games without taking off the clothes. He was probably in them for about fifteen minutes before I said something.

"Cordell?"

"Yeah?"

"TAKE OFF MY PANTS!"

He grinned.

I facepalmed, "I mean... my pants that you're wearing."

He stood up and slipped them off, but kept wearing the shirt. I glared at him.

"The shirt, too," I growled.

He shimmied out of it.

THE END.

Hope you like my cross-dressing boyfriend. :3 He's not actually one. He just wears my clothes without knowing it... Then when he finds out they're my clothes... he doesn't care.

So, do you have any great "smile" stories? If so, please share them in the comments or email them to me. My info is in the "contact" section of the site. THANK YOU!!

2012

The title is strange, yes? But think about it. If you commit suicide today or tomorrow, you won't know what happens in 2012. Will all those disasters occur? Will things fall from the sky? Will we start over? Or will nothing happen? You know what? You won't know because you won't be here. Please, don't do it. Attend 2012 with me to find out what happens.

So, what do you think will happen in 2012? I personally think nothing. I'll wake up to a beautiful 2013.

(Sorry for the short entry) :P

Rich With Nothing

My father has always had close to nothing. He's always been a bartender or a blacksmith. Pretty much meaning, he's had no money. A lot of people get depressed because they have no money. My dad has depression or at least, he did have it. Eventually, what brought him out of it were his friends and family. What he realized was that he was rich. He was filthy stinkin' rich. He used to tell me, "Leah, I may have no money, but I'm the richest man in the world. I am rich in friends. They love me and care for me. They will be there for me no matter what. You have great friends and family. Remember that."

Even when things get rough and you're living through hard times, you can still be happy. My dad is living in a trailer as a bouncer now, but he is one of the happiest men I know. He always has a smile on his face and is telling me things I really would rather not hear. But it is always a pleasure to see him happy.

The next time you're getting pissed off about those rich kids having more money than you when you have to work your butt off to live paycheck to paycheck, don't worry about it. Chances are, people can't stand them. You have something they don't. You have friends. Even if it's only one, that friend is probably a hell of a lot better than anything they have. Family will also be there for you even if they seem like they won't. A lot of them will. There is always someone.

And there's always me! Drop me an email!

Like I said.

There is always someone.

So, what do you think? Can you be rich without money? Or does rich only come in the dollar amount? Leave your comments below or drop me an email explaining why you feel this is so. Thank you for your time.

Someone Who Chose To Live

They are only like 2 minutes each!! And he's super amazing and inspiring... Please watch. 8) Pleeeeeease? Don't be lazy, he's saved lives with these videos!!!

First, a serious one.

And now, a not-so serious one. And okay, maybe he hasn't saved lives with this one, but it's a tip on how to feel better... I use this one. Haha. :3

I always thought this guy can be pretty inspirational. There have been comments on his videos, saying that he has convinced people out of committing suicide. I wanted to share them with you to either cheer you up or show you how he has some good points. The not-so serious one... He's a dork and I love him. His name is Greg, or Onision... and I watch him religiously. Anyways, I hope he cheered you up and made you think about what you have. Appreciate your life and your reasons to breathe.

Oh yes, and a question... What is your comfort food? Mine is cereal, strangely enough.

What Do You Do?

Okay, I know everyone gets upset, depressed, etc. and many people have tactics to cheer themselves up. I want to know, what do you do when you get this way? Do you watch a happy movie? Do you hang out with your friends? I'm curious. Tell me through my contact page or leave a comment on this post.

When I'm upset in order to cheer myself up, I read. It helps me escape from the crap I have to deal with. It takes me to another place. I'm in another character's body, experiencing what he or she experiences. Sometimes I'll watch some youtube videos or I'll watch a movie with my boyfriend. Another thing I do is eat my favorite food. That's one thing that will make you feel very alive. It sparks your taste buds. I absolutely love it.

So tell me, what do you do?
